With a catalogue of four self produced albums, Australian singer/songwriter LISA FITZGIBBON is building a reputation for her strong & endearing voice, her powerful compositions, her no-nonsense attitude to the business of making music & her life-on-the-road philosophy.
Lisa is based in the UK & tour’s regularly around Europe. She has forged an independent path throughout her career and has played at many prestigious venues and festivals including Glastonbury, the Cambridge Folk Festival, WOMAD and the London Shepherds Bush Empire.
Lisa has worked in the studio along side many established musicians including Rob Hurst (Midnight Oil), Rick Grossman (The Hoodoo Guru’s) and Tim Powles (The Church), and she has shared the stage with artists like Ani Di Franco, The Waifs (also from Australia), Martyn Hayes and Denis Cahil, Arlo Guthrie, Roger McGuinn (from The Byrds) and Chris Difford (from UK band Squeeze), just to name a few.
In the UK Lisa either plays solo or with any combination of her band, 'the Power Folk Quintet', featuring Jane Griffiths on fiddle and viola, Colin Fletcher on double bass, Jonny Fletcher on guitar, mandolin and harmonica and Damon Sawyer on drums.
Whilst touring in Europe Lisa works with either her German or Italian bands. The German Power Folk Trio comprises of guitarist Dirk Edelhoff and percussionist Rudiger Stirnberg and her Italian Power Folk Quartet features Gabriele Ulivi on guitar, Marco Barotti on drums and Lewin Berringer on bass.
Lisa Fitzgibbon's first album, ‘Footsteps’ is a limited edition release which documents her earliest compositions and marks the beginning of her recording career.
‘Just Below the Surface’ is her second title and is a studio album co-produced by Michael Edwards (composer of the music from the film ‘the Whale Rider’) and Tim Powles, (producer and drummer from Oz band ‘The Church’).
Her third album features the Power Folk Quartet. ‘Lisa Fitzgibbon, Live at the Bull’s Head’ was recorded during her two year residency at the famous SW London jazz venue.
Her fourth and most recent title, ‘Songbook 14’, is primarily a solo effort. It charters the ups, downs and arounds documented on the pages of her fourteenth songbook.
Lisa Fitzgibbon is currently writing her fifth album and enjoying the rollercoaster ride of her life as a Power Folkstress.
